Baby Blanket
With a new addition to the family comes a new responsibility. As a parent, you are entitled to protect, nurture, and make your baby feel comfortable and safe at all times. One of the simplest ways to make your little one feel comfortable is to provide them with their very own baby blanket, which will serve them throughout the course of their childhood (until they get too old and “cool” for it of course!). Many adults still keep their first baby blanket to this day for various reasons, but mainly because it was such an important and comforting part of their young lives.
This is often one of the first gifts a newborn receives when they enter the world, and is also one of the most cherished. Baby blankets are often thought of as “security blankets,” and for good reason.
There are a few options to consider when thinking about giving a baby blanket as a gift.
One of the most important factors to consider is the material the blanket is made out of. A baby’s skin is very sensitive and prone to rashes, so it is a general rule of thumb to try and shy away from rough or certain patterns that could possibly irritate their skin. The most common baby blanket is made out of 100% cotton, but there are many different options to choose from. Some of the most common alternatives include fleece, bamboo fibers, silk, microfiber, and satin. Many people also like to purchase eco-friendly or organic baby blankets.
Another option to consider is the climate of the area in which the baby will live. Obviously in the family lives in a warmer climate, you will want to purchase (or make) a light, breathable blanket; and if they live in a cooler climate, they will need a thicker more insulated baby blanket.
If you want to give your baby or someone else’s baby a personal gift, consider getting them a personalized baby blanket. Personalized baby blankets show that you truly care about the child entering the world, and can be one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give them.
Depending on the length of the name or message you want embroidered (or the graphic you want on it), personalized baby blankets generally cost around $40-$150 (or the cost of materials if you are going to make it yourself). Manufacturers usually offer the option to add silk edges for an additional price.
