Let me get one thing straight before going forward here: We are not talking about heavy metal babies clad in chains and leather studded vests wearing big frilly Mohawks. We’re not talking about those kinds of baby rockers. We’re talking about the nice kind, the cute kind, the finally get your baby to sleep so that Mommy and Daddy can have a bit of rest kind. Baby rockers are essential to a child’s growth and to a parent’s sanity. They allow you to rock your baby to sleep by an automated process and will give you time to rest.

Now, there are some other products out there that are pretty popular with the young children these days and have been popular with them for ages. Those are the rocking horses. Rocking horses are wooden or plushy horses or other animals large enough for a child to sit comfortably on.

They are built with rockers on their legs that let the child gleefully rock back and forth as if he were riding a real horse. They give the illusion of riding a carousel horse. People can get confused sometimes and think that a rocking horse is in fact a baby rocker but this is false. There are many differences between rocking horses and baby rockers even though both of them share the same purpose: rock the baby.

Perhaps the main difference between the two toys is in the child’s age. Baby rockers are generally for infants or children under the age of two while rocking horses (though often ridden by babies as well) are more designed for the child of two and up.
