Clear Stamps Have Their Benefits
Rubber stamping is a lot of fun and can be great for scrapbook designs, letter heads, or even picture frames. Most rubber stamps come prepackaged with the stamp design etched into the rubber before hand and that’s all well and good if you plan on using that one design over and over again but if you enjoy a little bit of variety in your stamps you should look into purchasing a pack of clear stamps.
Clear stamps are similar to rubber stamps only instead of coming etched into the rubber and irremovable they come in sleeves of specially printed paper and you can use the same acrylic block for all different kinds of stamps. What you do is buy sheets of stamp designs at a time. Each sheet will contain maybe ten or so unique stamp designs and each one acts as a sort of individual sticker.
To make the design into a working stamp you simple peel it off of the paper sheet and slap it on to your acrylic stamping block. Place the stamp at the precise location you want it to show up on and press down on the acrylic block as you would any other rubber or wooden stamp. The sticker paper will attach to the surface and remove itself from the block to leave a perfect stamped design. There’s no need to buy ink, all you need are new clear stamp sheets to continue stamping.
Rubber stamps and wooden stamps can be a hassle to store. They take up so much room in the desk drawer and if that ink pad spills you’re going to have one huge mess to clean up. Clear stamps get rid of all that hassle. You store them just as you would any other type of paper. They stack neatly on top of one another and will not smudge or slide and there is no messy ink to clean up. Since you use the same acrylic block to make all of your stamps you only have to buy and store just one.
Clear stamps are economical because they require fewer materials and those materials are generally a lot cheaper. They also provide you with much richer and finer detailed stamps than the regular old rubber stamps will. The only drawback to the clear stamp would be that you can only use each design a single time. Once you stamp it out of the sticker sheet you won’t be able to use it again until you buy it a second time.
