Interesting Facts About Fisher Price Little People
The very fist toy considered to be a little person were the three firemen that came with the “Looky Fire Truck” in 1950
“Nifty Station Wagon” was introduced in 1950 and came with a mom, dad, and baby – the first Play Family
The first playset was the beloved Play Family Barn (1968) with doors that made a “moo” sound when opened
The “Little People” name was registered and trademarked in 1985 because consumers called the Play Family characters “those little people”
At Fisher Price, push buttons, squeakers, springs and other various mechanisms must withstand at least 1,000 actuations by a motorized finger to ensure the toy will stand up to repeated use.
Most all-wood (regular base) boys have a raised “belt” just above the narrow part of the base. Wood/plastic and all-plastic boys did not have this belt. Regular base dads and men always have the raised belt
