Don’t Forget the Tiny Disney Princess; Wear a Tinkerbell Costume
Disney has created a ton of great female characters over the years. They have a whole line of Princesses that little girls and even grown women adore, admire, and want to emulate. Each year during Halloween it is common to see girls dressed in Snow White costumes, Cinderella costumes, Belle costumes, Jasmine costumes, and these main princess costumes generally overtake the fairy costumes.
However, we can’t forget one of the most important Princess characters in all of the Disney films. She’s become so iconic that we tend to overlook the fact that she belongs in the Princess archetype and not enough children dress up in her honor for the holidays. Tinkerbell is one of the most predominant characters in the Disney films. She was created in the story of Peter Pan and the mute but wily sprite now lights the top of the Disney castle before each and every Disney film.
Tinkerbell is an incredibly integral part to the Disney lexicon and luckily for all the little girls out there, her costume is easy to create.
The classic Tinkerbell look is a light green leotard with a fringed skirt that comes to an end around mid thigh. She wears no sleeves and carries around a wand. Tinkerbell’s make up is simple, just a few glitter marks here and a glowing yellow hue there. Her hair is generally tied up in a bun and she’s got a pair of fairy wings on her back.
Simple costumes are always the best costumes. They don’t require a lot of effort, they are easy to run around the neighborhood in, and they can be easily adapted to go with any age. Your young daughter can be a cute little Tinkerbell when she’s a little girl and then grow up to be a beautiful pixie dust providing Tinkerbell when she’s an adult. The character is timeless and so is her costume.
Halloween is a holiday generally filled with violence and horror but for little kids it can be cute and cuddly too. You’ll be thinking lots of happy thoughts and building bonding memories with your daughters as you knock on neighbor’s doors and she asks for candy in return for some pixie dust. Go to the store and purchase a premade tinkerbell costume or make one at home. Either way, the Tinkerbell character is an icon and it will be a lot of fun for your little girl to pretend she’s one of the most famous fairies of all Disney stories.
