Pick Up After Yourself: Put Your Toys in a Toy Chest
There is nothing worse than a messy room. Toys that are thrown all over the floor, stacked up in closets, and strewn all over the bed are not only awful to look at but they can be pretty dangerous too. Those toys get expensive with all of their little plastic parts and bells and whistles and it really hurts when you step on one in the dark only to find the next day that you snapped it in half. Messy rooms will cause you to hurt yourself and to hurt your property. Don’t let that happen to you and your kids get a toy chest.
Toy storage is key to organizing and cleaning a child’s room. Children are messy creatures sometimes but really, they just need to pick up their things and put them away. Our kindergarten teachers try to teach them this skill in the classroom but if you really want it to stick with them you have to keep the same rules at home. If they don’t pick up their toys they are liable to break them and no one wants that.
You can find a wooden toy chest or toy organizer at really any store that sells toys. A Toys R Us or a K-B Toys will have a decent selection or at least one Little Tikes Toy Chest.
Toy chests are great for organizing a child’s belongings and the toy stores know this. They know that if you’re buying hundreds of action figures or Barbie dolls from them you are probably going to need a place to put all of that. They know you don’t want your kid leaving his or her toys all over the house and they know you will probably spend a decent amount of money to make sure that doesn’t happen.
A wooden chest acts like any other toy boxes but it looks really great in a bedroom. You can even buy bedroom sets these days that have toy chests built into the frames of the bed or just as an accent piece. A wooden toy chest will really bring together a child’s room and give it that innocent and fun look we all know and love. If you’re struggling to teach your kids to properly manage their belongings and clean up after themselves invest in a toy chest and just make sure that any toy they own goes back into the toy chest when they are done with it.
